Diary Entry #7

Writer's picture: Vicki FitzGeraldVicki FitzGerald

Jail Sucks. I’d made yet another mistake and this time I’d hit rock bottom.

Under arrest and incarcerated in a cell is terrifying and undignified. It was THE worst night of my life. I’d always been a good girl, but I’d well and truly messed up, again. Life had declined, and my ex-husband and ex-friends continued to enjoy my downfall. Enter an unfortunate decision to drive—under the influence. The mistake cost me my freedom, a night behind bars, and cost me thousands of pounds. In the dock, the magistrates’ words wounded like a knife: “Mrs. FitzGerald, you’ve clearly hit rock bottom.” I’d sunk well beneath rock bottom to hell. I feared I’d never make my way back.

Read Still Standing by Vicki Fitzgerald and M.G. Crisci, a remarkable story of resilience and survival, an honest portrayal of one woman’s life, and her determination for a new beginning.
